Reading the Incremental Occupation of Territories is opening today within the section Modos de fluir / Ways of flowing of the X Architecture Biennale of São Paulo at Praca Victor Civita.

Through a retrospective reading of the spatial transformations, Latitude aims at raising awareness about the effects of our small actions repeated hundreds thousands times over the territorial support, specifically over the water flow behaviour. The exhibition is the result of a collaboration of Latitude Platform with the Nucleo de Tecnologia Urbana (NTU) of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil.

A large map is overlapped by a series of posters that reproduce the different representations of the territorial changes of the Treviso Province. Right below, five booklets lying on a bench respectively describe the three chosen reading scales for the Italian case study and the two Brazilian ones. Four conceptual models reproduce the delayering of four territorial samples – Treviso and Musano (Italy), Caxias do Sul and Eldorado do Sul (Brazil) – on standing transparent plexiglas sheets. A video compares the cases providing facts about the effects of the urbanization  and on the magnitude and recurrence of the flood events. The description is enriched by the work of emerging photographers as the one of Gianpaolo Arena.
