Luanda on GdA
On the current fall edition of il Giornale dell’Architettura Latitude has published an article on the Angolan Pavilion, the winner of the Golden Lion at 55th Architecture Biennale of Venice and a brief reading of the present conditions of architecture in Luanda.
Besed on the filedwork and research conducted by Fabio Vanin (Latitude) in Luanda in the frame of the research Mobile A2K, the article discusses the recent success and the emerging Angolan art scene in the inetrnational panorama that goes hand in hand with the rapid development of the capital. The different meanings of contemporary architecture in Luanda, the role of heritage and the modern building tradition that is still so present in the center, despite demolitions, pose important questions about the image and the models of emerging African cities.
