Latitude on the Po Delta

Latitude on the Po Delta

Latitude, together with IUAV Univesity of Venice, is organizing the final edition of the Summer School on the Po Delta that will take place in  Gorino Sullam – Taglio di Po (Rovigo), from the 4th till the 18th of September 2011.

The Summer School is financed by  the European Commission, DG Education and Culture –  Erasmus Intensive Program –  and it will bring together some 35 students and 15 professors and tutors from different European universities: Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (landscape architecture); University of Sheffield (landscape architecture and urban planning); Universitatea de Arhitectura si Urbanism “Ion Mincu” Bucuresti (urban planning); as well as the Università IUAV di Venezia (landscape architecture, urban planning, regional planning and communication design).

The “Summer School on the Po River Delta: Creating scenarios for fragile territories” will work on sensitive issues that are affecting the Po Delta region. The cross-disciplinary approach of the program will advance the multifaceted observations of working groups composed of planners, landscape architects, urban designers, communication designers and anthropologists.

Latitude will work as one of the tutors, supported by visual designers (Unità di Crisi) and anthropologists (Valentina Bonifacio – Ca’ Foscari; Lianne Verstraete – Amsterdam Univesity). At the same time Latitude will conduct the design investigation on the Po Delta (Porto Tolle) that will be presented at the 5th IABR – International Architectural Biennale of Rotterdam in April 2012. This research, that focuses on hydrological vulnerability and urbanization in the Veneto Region (Counter Site) , will investigate three case studies, one of which is the Po Delta.
